Martin Nachbar
Dancer, performer and choreographer. Occasionally, he also writes for various European dance and theatre magazines (etcetera, Brussels; Dance Theatre Journal, London; ballettanz, Berlin). He trained at the School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam, in New York City and at PARTS, Brussels. Nachbar collaborated in different functions with artists of different fields (Thomas Plischke, Alice Chauchat, Vera Mantero, Les Ballets C. de la B., Meg Stuart, Thomas Lehmen, Benjamin Schweitzer, Joachim Schlömer, Carlos Pez, Martine Pisani, Paul Hendrikse a.o.). In 2005, he co-organized the „meeting on dance education 2005“ at fabrik Potsdam and collaborated with Jochen Roller to make „mnemonic nonstop“. His work includes solo and duet work (among which „ja, ja – der dritte mann“, winner of the Ludwigshafen Choreography Award 2006). It has been touring through South-America and Europe. In 2006, Nachbar was a recipient of a Kunststiftung NRW grant and he was invited by apap (advancing performing arts projects) to work on six guided tours around the theme of accidents in six European cities. In spring 2007 he made „looking for johnny“ together with pvc/Schlömer at Stadttheater Freiburg, and the solo „-iller“, a commission for Schillertage, Mannheim. Since autumn 2007, Martin Nachbar and his father have been touring with their duet „Repeater“. In spring 2008, he made „Urheben Aufheben“, the last step in his longstanding research into the dance cycle „Affectos Humanos“ by Dore Hoyer from 1962. Currently, Nachbar studies at the Amsterdam Master of Choreography (AMCh).
